Yes, you can! You can use any essential oil in this recipe. I especially love to use my expired oils in this way. You would never want to put expired oils on your skin, but in cleaning products they are still useful (unless the scent has soured). It is better than throwing them away :)

• 1/3 cup Baking Soda
• 15 drops Essential Oil of Choice
• Recycled Glass Spice Container

Directions:

Step 1: Place baking soda into small mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add in 15 drops of essential oil of choice. You could use vanilla extract if no essential oils are available.

Step 3: Use a metal whisk to break up any clumps and to blend in the essential oils.

Step 4: Transfer soda into spice container using a funnel. This recipe fits perfect in a standard spice container, you can make a bigger batch if you have a big container. I like to place an oil sticker on the top of the container lid so I know what oil was used.

Scented baking soda air freshener works great for a variety of things. Here are some ideas for how you can use your essential oils and baking soda blend.

1. Toilet Bowl

• Sprinkle into toilet, let sit for 5 minutes, then scrub with toilet scrubber. I like to use minty fresh oils for this job.

2. Carpet Freshener

• Sprinkle onto carpet, let sit for 20 minutes then vacuum up. Test a small spot in the bedroom first to make sure the mixture doesn't harm carpet. Lavender scented baking soda smells wonderful.

3. Sink Scrub

• Sprinkle into sink and scrub clean with a moist microfiber cloth or scrubber. I like to use citrus oils here, lemon or orange work great in bathrooms!

4. Stinky Shoe Powder

• Sprinkle into stinky shoes, let sit overnight. Shake out any powder residue before wearing. Tea tree scented baking soda would be great for this.

5. Stained Coffee Cup

• Sprinkle into cup, add warm water, let sit for 30 minutes then rinse out, repeat if needed.

6. Weed Killer

• Sprinkle onto weeds in cracks of sidewalk and driveway to kill weeds. Do not sprinkle into flower beds or garden, it will kill your plants too.

7. Eliminate Garbage Odors

• Sprinkle a small amount in the bottom of garbage can to keep eliminate odors.

8. Clogged Drains

• Sprinkle a good amount down drain, then pour 1/2 cup of vinegar down drain, allow the reaction to occur. Follow up with hot water down drain. Repeat as needed.
• This can also freshen the drain so no need to wait until your drain is clogged, do this to keep it fresh and draining well.

9. Clean Counters

• Sprinkle onto countertops and scrub clean with a microfiber cloth. If grease and grime are present, try spraying some vinegar on to the scented baking soda on the counter, let sit for a few minutes and wipe clean.

10. Keep Ants Away

• Sprinkle near ant entry point to keep ants away. Peppermint and clove work really well for this.

11. Tub Scrub

• Sprinkle into bathtub or shower and scrub with a brush to remove lime scale and clean surface. Add vinegar if stubborn stains present.

12. Scrubbing Paste

• Instead of placing scented baking soda in a spice container, add in some water to mixing bowl and mix into a paste. Use the paste to clean faucets, sinks, tub, stove top, microwave, bathroom tile, etc.

13. Car Freshener

• Stinky car odors? Use this natural air freshener baking soda. Place spice container with the lid off in a cup holder of your car overnight to absorb smelly odors and leave a fresh scent.

14. Deodorize Cutting Board

• Dampen cutting board, sprinkle with a layer of scented baking soda and let sit for 1 hour. Scrub off and rinse clean with warm water.
