Looking for a DIY solution for dull, dry skin? Honey and sugar are a winning combination to beautify skin. Together they exfoliate, moisturize and clarify skin, leaving healthy, glowing skin.
Another great thing about this sugar and honey scrub is that you can pamper yourself for pennies at home!
I am sure you have honey and sugar in your pantry, right? Raw honey is best as it has more beneficial properties over processed honey but you can use either.
Whether you want a light scrub or a deep one, sugar is the perfect ingredient because of its ability to dissolve so easily in water. This recipe uses white sugar but you can substitute brown sugar if you prefer.
What Does Sugar and Honey Do to Your Face?
Sugar and honey are two sweeteners that are often used in facial scrubs. Sugar is a gentle exfoliant that can help to remove dead skin cells and improve circulation. Honey is a natural humectant, meaning it helps to keep skin hydrated.
In addition, honey contains antibacterial properties that can help to protect the skin from infection. When used together, sugar and honey can help to leave the skin feeling soft, smooth, and healthy.
4 Benefits of Honey Sugar Scrub
Sugar scrubs can be used to moisturize your skin! Sugar scrubs have many benefits, including exfoliating dead skin cells and removing unwanted oils from the surface of your skin.
Here are some of the benefits you may enjoy from this homemade body scrub recipe.
1. Glowing Complexion
Sugar scrubs are very popular, ever wonder why? Sugar is excellent at exfoliating dry, dead skin cells. When the dead cells are sloughed off, it allows the renewed skin to glow, leaving a brighter complexion.
Honey also encourages exfoliation, as it contains a natural source of alpha hydroxy acids that helps with cell regeneration.
2. Cleansing to Skin
Honey (raw honey is best) is antibacterial, which helps get bacteria off skin and assists with skin impurities. Honeys anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties help with skin healing and tissue regeneration.
Sugar, when used as a gentle scrub to massage skin, can increase circulation to aid skin healing and cell turnover.
3. Skin Moisturizing
Honey is the perfect humectant, meaning it has a natural ability to hold onto water. This is why honey is hydrating. It is also loaded with antioxidants, enzymes, and other nutrients that nourish and moisturize skin.
4. Clarifying for Skin
The enzymes in honey help to clarify the skin, keeping pores clear and unclogged. The exfoliating action of honey and sugar also keep the skin and pores clean and clear.

How to Use Sugar Scrub Body Scrub?
Take a small amount of honey sugar scrub and apply it to body by massage onto skin for 3-5 minutes. Pay particular attention to dry area like elbows and knees.
Once body scrub has been applied to desired area, rinse off with warm water. After homemade body scrub is rinsed off, dry skin with a soft towel and apply moisturizer or body oil.
Optional Sugar Scrub for Face:
You can use this recipe on your face but you will want to make sure that your sugar is fine, otherwise it may be to abrasive for delicate facial tissue. I personally like to use brown sugar for face scrub recipes because it has a softer texture. Facial tissue is more delicate so you will need less drops of essential oils (cut amount in half).
