Essential oils are nature's gift to us all, but giving a bottle of oil as a Christmas gift may not be the best choice for that special person on your list, especially if they are new to oils and aromatherapy. The best Essential Oil Christmas gifts should be fully enjoyed by the receiver.
Unless you have a savvy oiler on your Christmas list, it is more thoughtful to give gift products made with essential oils, either DIY or purchased, instead of a bottle of oil.

Do Essential Oils Make the Perfect Gift?
Remember when you were new to oils (maybe you still are??), learning to use them was a bit of a learning curve, right?
Let me further explain. A bottle of essential oil to a new user may go unused because the receiver may not know, or understand how to put it to use safely.
Essential oils took me a while to warm up to. I was first given a bottle of White Fir, the giver said it would help with my respiratory system and gave me some brief instructions on how I could use it.
It took me a while before I even attempted to use it because I just wasn't sure what to do with it. Give me a white fir soap bar or homemade body cream with that oil and I would know how to use it... but with the bottle of oil, I was a little lost.
So, if you have someone that is new to essential oils and aromatherapy, try giving them a gift that has essential oils in it. That way they can use essential oils and gain some positive experiences, then they will be open to trying more :)

Essential oil gifts can be enjoyed whether they are homemade or purchased. It really depends on your preference. It is also budget-friendly to make DIY gifts.
I know many people enjoy DIY but others may not be crafty, or just may not have the time to make them.
Hopefully, this list will give you some holiday gift ideas for the loved ones on your Christmas list. You can customize these recipes for the person you are giving it to, or with the essential oils you have on hand, just use the recipe as a base.
DIY Christmas Gift Preparation
When I make DIY recipes for myself or for others, I keep my workspace as clean as possible. I want to keep my recipes fresh and germ-free. I make sure to wash my hands before making the recipe, use clean bottles and tools, and spray my empty bottles/tools with grain alcohol or rubbing alcohol to kill any germs before I use them.

1. Aromatherapy Body Oils
- Body oil can smooth, moisturize and nourish the skin. It is a really versatile gift because many people will enjoy the beneficial aromatherapy oil they can apply to their skin.
- Body oils can also be used as a massage oil, bath oil, or just a good aromatherapy session. They make perfect gifts because they are ready to use, already diluted and take any guesswork out of it for the recipient.
- Here is a soothing and nourishing blend, Lavender and frankincense oil in this recipe are not only skin-repairing but also are very calming essential oils.

2. Essential Oil Sugar Scrubs
- Everyone loves a good exfoliating body scrub to polish the body and get glowing skin. Different sugars can be used to make a scrub like brown or white sugar, even raw sugar it just depends on your preference.

- I like to keep it simple with my body butter so I use a no-heat method. The shea butter comes out creamy and is so moisturizing to the skin.

Directions: Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, whip for about 5 minutes. Your shea butter should be whipped smooth without lumps, looks kind of like cake frosting consistency. Scoop whipped shea butter into storage containers using a spatula. |

4. Lip Balm
- Lip balms are another beautiful gift to give, this recipe has a coconut oil and beeswax base with essential oils to give them a wonderful scent. Pick an oil like spearmint, sweet orange, frankincense, lavender, vanilla, etc.

Directions: Melt beeswax and coconut oil together using a double broiler method. Place both into glass Pyrex measuring cup and place measuring cup into a pan with gently boiling water. Stir with a popsicle stick. Once melted, remove from heat. Stir in slice of lipstick if desired to tint lip balm. Mix in drops of essential oil. Pour evenly into four lip balm containers. Allow to cool completely, place lids and labels on. |

5. Bath Salt/Salt Scrub
- Adding nourishing aromatherapy bath salts can make bathing even more enjoyable and beneficial. They are cleansing and purifying to skin and sure to make a lovely gift.

9. Roller Remedies
- Roller bottles are so convenient to use and easy to make. They are a great way to introduce a new user to essential oils too because rollerballs are a simple way to apply oils to skin, just roll them on!

10. Essential Oil Perfume
- All natural essential oil perfume is really just amazing. Store fragrances irritate my throat and nose. I love having the option to use an all natural plant oils as my fragrance.

Add beeswax to a glass measuring cup, place the cup in a saucepan with 1–2 inches of gently boiling water. Once beeswax melted, add in fractionated coconut oil and blend together, remove from heat. Stir in essential oil, then pour into containers. Allow cooling until firm (about 10-15 minutes). Step 4: To use, rub your finger over the perfume and rub onto the wrist or neck. Want more out? 11. Soap Bars
- Essential Oil Soap is one of my favorite ways to use my essential oils every day. Soap doesn't have to be difficult when you use melt and pour, it is actually simpler than you think.
- This Cardamom Soap recipe uses a melt and pour soap base, which is really simple to work with and the final product comes out looking amazing.

Directions: Cut melt and pour soap base up with a sharp knife. Place pieces into a glass measuring cup. Place measuring cup into a pan with about 2 inches of gently boiling water. Let soap base melt completely, this will take about 10 minutes or more. Stir occasionally with a long metal spoon, be careful of the hot steam coming from pot. Once completely melted, remove from heat. Allow to cool for about 2 minutes then stir in essential oil drops. Pour into the soap mold. It is best to have your soap mold on a solid surface. I like using a wooden serving tray so I can move it as needed without spilling the soap once poured. Spray tops of soaps with rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle if you want to get rid of the little bubbles on the soap surfaces. This is optional but must be done right after pouring soap if you want to do it. Allow to completely set at room temperature, around 4-5 hours. Once done, pop soaps out of the mold. Wrap soaps separately in a layer of plastic wrap to avoid soap sweating (little dew drops on it). |

12. Body Wash
- Foaming body washes are my favorite but you can create a liquid body wash as well.

Add castile soap to foaming bottle, add vitamin E oil and rose absolute, stir together with a glass stir rod. Fill the bottle with rose water. Be sure to leave space at the top of the foaming pump. Place the top on and shake gently. |
